Ben’s Chili Bowl Closed at Horseshoe Casino Baltimore

| March 1, 2022 | 0 Comments

Popular Washington, D.C. chili and hot dog restaurant Ben’s Chili Bowl closed late last year at the Baltimore Marketplace food court at Horseshoe Casino Baltimore.

Vida Ali, a spokesperson for Ben’s Chili Bowl, told SouthBMore.com the decision to close the stall was made by Caesars, not Ben’s Chili Bowl. She said they were “saddened” by the decision and wanted to stay.

Ben’s Chili Bowl opened in March 2020 right before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Ali noted Ben’s Chili Bowl was happy with the business and customer support at the location considering the challenges it faced while open. Ali said the company was also happy to finally have a location in Baltimore.

Ali didn’t rule out the possibility of opening another restaurant in Baltimore in the future.

Tony Luke’s and Piezetta are the only two businesses open at Baltimore Marketplace, which has a total of five stalls. Construction is currently underway in the space that was previously occupied by Ben’s Chili Bowl.

Caesars has not provided any information to SouthBMore.com about the closure of Ben’s Chili Bowl or any new dining concepts at the casino.

The casino also lost restaurants GDL Italian by Giada and Guy Fieri’s Baltimore Kitchen & Bar during the pandemic. GDL’s space remains vacant, while The Brew Brothers opened in the former of Guy Fieri’s space.
