Orioles Put Bobblehead Promotion Up To the Fans

| April 10, 2012 | 0 Comments

Marco and I spent a segment of our baseball preview talking about the Orioles bobblehead streak.  Unfortunately that streak consists of two straight years in which the  bobblehead giveaway was for a player currently on the Norfolk Tides.  Looks like the Orioles are putting it up to the fans to make the decision this year on who that player is going to be.

With Mark Reynolds, JJ Hardy, Tommy Hunter, Jake Arrieta and Robert Andino as the options, it’s going to need be Hardy if they want to definitely break the streak.  Hardy signed an extension last year and is one of the top shortstops in baseball.  I like the rest of the guys, but they are no guarantee. Sure the Orioles top prospect is SS Many Machado, but even if he makes the majors by the year’s end, Hardy will still be in the infield somewhere, likely shortstop.

My recommendation before this announcement was Matt Wieters. He would be a lock, but now my money is on Hardy!
