photoFacelift for STX

STX, the biggest name in the lacrosse equipment industry, is probably one of the most high-profile companies in Baltimore City that most people don’t even realize is here or know where their headquarters is located. In addition to lacrosse, STX has expanded their operations into golf, will soon launch a hockey division, and partners with Nike to design and create their lacrosse equipment.

Their headquarters is on Bush St. in the Camden Carroll Industrial area and, until recently, you could have driven right by it and not even noticed unless you saw a very small STX sign on the door. Now you’ll immediately know who occupies the buildings.  Their headquarters now features a new paint job, new trees planted on the sidewalk, and large STX flags hanging from their buildings, which include pictures of professional athletes sponsored by STX.

Fun fact: STX also won the Pigtown Charity Golf Open at Carroll Park.

Two New 7-Elevens Under Construction

In April SouthBMore.com reported that two new 7-Elevens were coming to Pigtown, but until the last couple of weeks we did not see any movement on these two new businesses. Both are now under construction with banners hanging that read, ‘7-Eleven Coming Soon.’

The first will be at 1769 Washington Blvd. at the site of an old Quest gas station and the other will be the final tenant of the once nearly-empty shopping center at Washington Blvd. and MLK Blvd.

Zips Dry Cleaners at the same shopping center was the victim of an arson attack and has been out of business since late April.  Crews were seen this week working at the location, so we’ll keep you posted.

769 Washington Blvd. has struggled to keep tenants since their recent renovation. This included a very short stay from ReVamp Variety, as well as House of Elie, which opened in June and has since closed its doors.

Now there are new signs in the door that read,  ‘Simple Mobile,’ and work has been underway inside the location.  We’ll keep you posted on when they open and when we know more about the business.

More Restaurant Updates

-A new sign has gone up at Mi Ranchito, a new Mexican Tex-Mex restaurant soon to open at 1114 Hollins St. in the former home of Baltimore Pho.

-Zella’s Pizzeria’s liquor license is active and they are now serving beer and wine.

-Pigtown Ale House was approved for their liquor license transfer at 1415 Washington Blvd. across the street from Carroll Park in the former home of Carroll Station.

-Renovations are now underway at Touch Down, a bar replacing the former Carl’s Little House at 1173 W. Hamburg St. in Pigtown.
