Uber Launches More Affordable uberX in Baltimore

| November 1, 2013 | 0 Comments

uberxblogheader_700This year many new transportation options have come to Charm City, including Uber, Lyft and now uberX. Uber kicked off their black car service in February and now they have launched uberX, a more affordable version of the car ride service.

From their blog:

WHAT IS uberX?
uberX is our low-cost option, combining the same great Uber quality you’re used to with prices cheaper than a taxi. With uberX you’ll find a mix of hybrid and mid-range cars in a variety of styles, with seating for up to four people.

SAMPLE FARES

UberBLACK uberX
Fed Hill to Harbor East $15 $7
Fells Point to Penn Station $19 $9
Canton to M&T Stadium $27 $14
Downtown Baltimore to BWI $45 (flat) $28

HOW DOES IT WORK?

To maintain the Uber standard you’ve come to expect, all drivers pass Uber’s rigorous screening process. In order to be an uberX driver in Baltimore, drivers must pass:

• A stringent background check
• A driving history check
• An in-person interview and screening
• Ongoing quality controls

Bottom line: our riders’ security and satisfaction remain our highest priority. All Uber rides continue to be backed by our corporate insurance policy, and riders always have the option to rate every driver and improve the system with their feedback. Qualification standards for UberBLACK remain unchanged. Know someone that might be interested in becoming an uberX driver? More info here.

Please keep in mind that uberX is still in beta mode and availability will be limited at first, but we encourage you to open up the app and give it a try. Need any more convincing? Just ask our Rider Zero, Tyrod! Or hit us up at [email protected]. ; )
