photoAnna Leventis took over SoBo Café two and a half years ago and now she is looking to build on the success of the Federal Hill restaurant by opening SoBo Market. She will be opening SoBo Market along with partner Jim Glick at the former Rayzers Bar at 13 E. Randall St. in South Baltimore. Leventis and Glick purchased the property, business and license from the former owners and are making big changes to the restaurant space as well as renovating the upstairs apartment.

SoBo Market will feature foods similar to SoBo Café, but the offerings will be more casual, highlighted by many sandwiches and small plates. They will also have many to-go items such as fresh baked loaves of bread and rolls, homemade pastries, coffees and espressos, prepared foods, salads, milk, and eggs, as well as beer, growlers, wine and liquor. SoBo Market will have a bar and a dining area, and the owners are constructing a new kitchen.

SoBo Market will be open Monday through Friday from 4pm to 10pm, and it will be open all day on the weekends. The restaurant will have a capacity of approximately 30 to 40 people and there will be a staff of five to ten people.

Leventis and Glick expressed their excitement about their new location in South Baltimore. “There is so much activity and growth in this area, and there are some really nice houses being built right across the street (Marshall Green). We are also really excited to be on an alley because it will really bring some nice light in through the windows,” Leventis told

Leventis and Glick hope to open SoBo Market in early fall.
