photoOn Thursday, July 31st, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore and Duff Goldman of Charm City Cakes and the Food Network’s Ace of Cakes announced a partnership to serve Goldman’s famous cakes and baking creations at the new casino. Charm City Cake’s celebrated the announcement at its bakery in Remington with the presentation of a slot machine replica cake.

Slices of Goldman’s old school carrot, red velvet, berries and milk, and New Orleans bananas foster cake will be served by Charm City Cakes at Jack Binion’s Steakhouse, one of the new Horseshoe restaurants.

Horseshoe patrons will also be able to purchase a ‘Cake in a Jar,’ a Charm City Cake slice cooked inside a mason jar, which they can eat at Horseshoe or take home. Custom cakes can also be ordered for events held at Horseshoe’s event space and a variety of baked goods will also be served during select events at the casino’s outdoor entertainment area, including Ravens home games.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase our creativity at the city’s next great attraction,” said Goldman. “Our mission is to create the world’s most exquisite cakes, and we’re looking forward to bringing our edible works of art to Horseshoe Baltimore later this summer.”

The cakes will be delivered daily from Remington to Horseshoe Baltimore in South Baltimore.

“I hope everyone comes over and gets stuffed after every Ravens home win,” said Goldman, a huge Ravens fan who is also a member of the Los Angeles-based Ravens fan club, The West Wing. As a Baltimore native, Goldman now spends much of his time in Los Angeles where he opened Charm City Cakes West, but he says he plans on stopping by Horseshoe Casino Baltimore “a lot.”

They are all great guys and really passionate about food.  Horseshoe Casino is going to elevate the Baltimore culinary game a bit,” said Goldman.

“We’re thrilled to bring this Charm City institution to Horseshoe Baltimore,” said Horseshoe Baltimore Senior Vice President and General Manager Chad Barnhill. “Duff and his team are among the most creative professionals with whom I have ever worked, and I’m proud that Horseshoe Baltimore will be the only casino in the area where guests can enjoy the world-class desserts they create.”

Charm City Cakes currently employs 17 people and they anticipate adding one to three new employees to handle the increased workload.

People will also be really excited when they see The Baltimore Marketplace which will be highlighted with architectural elements of the city including the look of Baltimore rowhomes.”

The Baltimore Marketplace will include food offerings from Baltimore restaurants and vendors including Heavy Seas, Tark’s Grille, Mallow Bar, Lenny’s Deli, and Mamma Ilardo’s. There will also be a bar inside marketplace called B’More Beers, which will feature 32 locally brewed beers.

Along with Jack Binion’s, Guy Fieri’s Baltimore Kitchen and Bar, Johnny Sánchez, and The Baltimore Marketplace, Horseshoe will also be home to Ruby 8 Noodle and Sushi Bar.
