Federal Hill Mortgage, a local mortgage company that has been in the area since 2006, is moving to 904 Light St.  They are relocating from 1021 Patapsco St. to this 1700 sq. ft. space previously occupied by Alliance Comics. The space is undergoing a six-week renovation and Federal Hill Mortgage is hoping to move in by the end of November.

Husband and wife Ryan and Tammy Saul started Federal Hill Mortgage years ago out of their basement home in Federal Hill.  A year later, they moved their business to an office space on Patapsco St.  Over the last year, the Sauls had been eyeing a move to Light St., specifically somewhere between Federal Hill Park and the Cross Street Market.  Following a lead from the owners of Pitilis Cleaners, the Sauls learned that Alliance Comics may soon be leaving, after which they were able to negotiate a lease with the owner of the property.

“There’s a charm to being on a central retail strip, and the visibility of Light Street will create even more great exposure,” said Tammy Saul.

Though Federal Hill Mortgage was started in the middle of the recession and real estate collapse, the business has flourished. “We’re the best at what do, and we have the skills, creativity and experience to get loans done in this economy, which has led and continues to lead to many referrals,” said Tammy Saul.  Tammy is also an Attorney with an MBA, a background she credits to her success in the mortgage industry and serving others in a way that other mortgage professionals can not.

Federal Hill Mortgage splits much of its business between home loans and real estate investor transactions, with most of their client base  in Maryland. Federal Hill Mortgage employs four people. They will hire a receptionist for the new Light St. location.

The property at 1021 Patapsco St. will soon be going up for sale.
