Yesterday, the Maryland General Assembly passed legislation that enables continued access to convenient, reliable rides through the Uber app, while also ensuring the greatest level of public safety. The passage of Senate Bill 868 and House Bill 1231 ensures that we continue to provide the Uber you know and love. We’re excited to continue to meet the overwhelming demand for uberX in Maryland. What’s In The Bill:

  • Mandatory county, federal and multi-state background checks going back 7 years
  • $1 million primary insurance coverage from the moment a driver accepts a request
  • Annual vehicle safety inspections by a certified mechanic

This new legislation affirms these responsibilities and makes sure that uberX remains available as the safest and most reliable way for Maryland residents to travel.

A Special Thank You

Special thanks to our bill sponsor Senator Bill Ferguson who displayed tremendous leadership in pushing through this bill. We are proud that Uber’s safety standards have set the bar for ridesharing in Maryland.

Thank Senator Ferguson for supporting uberX

We also want to recognize the leadership and support of key officials who stood up for reliable transportation options and economic opportunities for Maryland residents.
