Fatal Accident Friday Night on the Hanover Street Bridge

Baltimore Police Release:

Southern District – Fatal Accident

On October 16, 2015 at approximately 9:10 p.m. officers and medics responded to the Hanover Street bridge for a serious accident. Upon arrival, officers found that a two(2) vehicle accident had occurred, and that 12 people had sustained injuries.

As a result, the driver of a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder, a 50 year old male, was pronounced dead a short time later at Shock Trauma. His identity will be released upon notification of his next of kin. All others are expected to make full recoveries.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the driver of the Pathfinder was traveling northbound on the bridge in the center lane, against lane direction marked with a red “x” (for northbound travel). At the same time, a 2007 Ford van, carrying 11 people was traveling southbound in the center lane, marked with a green arrow (for southbound travel). The vehicles collided. Investigators have concluded that the driver of the Pathfinder was at fault for this accident.
