Silver Spring-Based Smart Realty Opens Office in Pigtown
Smart Realty, a full-service real estate brokerage, opened a new 1,500 sq. ft. office at 823 Washington Blvd. in Pigtown last Friday. Smart Realty was started in Silver Spring, MD by Juan Campos. It also has an office in Camp Springs, MD.
Campos purchased the formerly-vacant Washington Blvd. building on Pigtown Main Street as an investment a couple years ago, and later decided it would make a great location for a Baltimore branch for Smart Realty.
“I love Baltimore, it’s a great city,” said Campos. “I’ve done a lot of investing here, and the investments have paid off well.”
Campos’ investments include renovation flips, rentals, and commercial properties.
Campos is also excited about the future of Pigtown and surrounding Southwest Baltimore neighborhoods. “It’s an exciting market. I see a lot of investors buying and a lot of positive changes,” he said.
Smart Realty’s Baltimore office will have two agents and a manager, and will look to expand its team. Smart Realty offers 100% commissions to its agents after paying a monthly fee of $400 to $450 as opposed to a commission split. With its three different offices, Campos told SouthBMore.com that he has agents who speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Filipino, and Russian.
Campos completely renovated the two-story building with hardwood floors, exposed brick, new windows, a computer lab, and a conference room. The exterior was painted in dark gray with a red door. Campos said he applied for a facade grant from the Baltimore Development Corporation.
When asked if he was excited to be open, Campos replied “100%!”
Smart Realty celebrated on Friday with a grand opening party with a ribbon cutting.
