The State of Maryland has two new First Dogs as Governor Larry Hogan and wife First Lady Yumi Hogan adopted two dogs yesterday from the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. (BARCS) in South Baltimore.

A mother dog and her litter of four puppies, which look like they could be part Shih Tzu, all found new homes yesterday. Governor Hogan and First Lady Hogan adopted the mother dog and one of the puppies, and their granddaughter adopted another one of the puppies in the litter. The other two puppies were adopted by Secretary Shareese Nicole Churchill and her husband Secretary of the Department of General Services Ellington Churchill.

Governor Hogan documented the entire experience on his Facebook page:

BARCS thanked the Hogans for stopping by on Facebook:

Former First Dog Lexi passed away at 16 years old last December.

BARCS has proposed a move to a larger new home at 2490 Giles Rd. in Cherry Hill. Its current site will be replaced by Topgolf.
