Brunch Restaurant ‘Easy Like Sunday’ Coming to McHenry Row

Easy Like Sunday, a breakfast and brunch restaurant, is coming to McHenry Row in Locust Point. Easy Like Sunday takes over the approximately 5,000 sq. ft. retail space vacated by Iron Rooster.

Easy Like Sunday opened its first restaurant in Charlotte, NC in 2020 and a second restaurant at Cross Keys in Roland Park in March 2023.

Co-owner Anna MacCuish, a Baltimore native, started the restaurant with husband Sean MacCuish. The couple moved to Baltimore to be closer to Anna MacCuish’s family after having kids. They have since sold the Charlotte location.

The MacCuishes partnered with Antonios Kokolis on the Baltimore locations.

Anna MacCuish grew up in the restaurant business as her family owns G&A Restaurant, which was in Highlandtown for many years before recently relocating to White Marsh. Sean MacCuish is an executive chef from Southern California.

Anna MacCuish had great memories of Cross Keys from her upbringing in Baltimore. The office and retail complex has been undergoing a redevelopment in recent years by Caves Valley Partners.

The MacCuishes were drawn to the brunch concept as they knew the hours would be conducive to spending time with their family every evening. They were inspired by many great brunch restaurants in Southern California and love that brunch takes cues from many different styles of cuisine.

Easy Like Sunday has simple breakfast dishes such as two eggs, potatoes, and meat; pancakes; yogurt parfaits; and avocado toast. It also has more adventurous and filling options such as shrimp and grits; a fried chicken sandwich; fried chicken with corn meal pancakes; a breakfast burrito; and a ricotta-stuffed French toast. They’ve also worked popular local dishes into the menu including a crab melt, a Reuben, and a lox platter.

Easy Like Sunday offers coffee, espresso, and lattes using Ceremony Coffee beans; a mimosa menu; and cocktails such as a bloody mary, espresso martini, and spicy margarita.

Anna MacCuish, Sean MacCuish, and Kokolis were drawn to the space at McHenry Row after it was vacated by Iron Rooster. They like that it is located at a different end of the city from the Cross Keys location.

On adding a second Baltimore location, Kokolis said, “It was sooner than we were anticipating, but we’ve had so much support from Baltimore. Without the customer support, we don’t think we could’ve moved so quickly.”

A renovation is currently underway at the McHenry Row space. The ownership team hopes to open Easy Like Sunday in early summer.

The bar seating from Iron Rooster is being reduced and outdoor seating areas are being added in front of and behind the restaurant. The renovation will add Easy Like Sunday’s signature chandeliers, flower wall, and mirrors that can be seen at Cross Keys.

Easy Like Sunday is open 8am to 3pm every day at Cross Keys. They will not be adding dinner hours in Locust Point, but the restaurant will be available at night for private parties. The team also plans to use the patio under the water tower at McHenry Row for private parties.

Jim Chivers of Gold and Company helped facilitate the lease between McHenry Row and Easy Like Sunday.

“I’m excited for the Easy Like Sunday team and a big fan of their location in Cross Keys. I’m confident they will do very well in Locust Point,” said Chivers. “Their management, staff, and food quality ranks as some of the best in the area.”
