Kneads Bakeshop & Café, which opened in April at 838 E. Fort Ave. in Riverside/Locust Point, will host its last day on November 30th. The cafe was viewed by its ownership as a “pop-up” in the former 3,800 sq. ft. The Local Oyster space as the company considered a long-term lease in South Baltimore.
Kneads closed from August 9th to September 24th due to an issue with its occupancy permit, and reopened on September 25th. Kneads owner Kira Paterakis Nissley told SouthBMore.com in September the business was “exploring” a long-term lease in the space and “we love our Locust Point customers.”
Kneads posted to instagram:
Big changes are coming to Kneads! While our Locust Point Pop-Up will close its doors on 11/30, this isn’t goodbye—it’s just the beginning.
We can’t wait to welcome you to our upcoming locations in Canton and Cross Keys, alongside our Harbor East cafe. Thank you for your incredible support, and stay tuned for more updates as we grow!
Paterakis Nissley told SouthBMore.com today, “we didn’t want to let down our loyal customers in South Baltimore, but we had to make the best decision for the business as we continue to expand. We hope you can join us in celebrating our new home in Canton in the coming weeks.”
The cafe is an offshoot of Baltimore’s H&S Bakery. The first location is at 506 S. Central Ave. in Harbor East near the H&S commercial bakery. Additional locations are coming to Cross Keys in Roland Park and Canton Crossing.
Kneads offers a display of bakery items such as donuts, pastries, bagels, muffins, cakes, and loaves of bread. It also has a coffee bar and a sit-down breakfast menu.
It will be open Wednesday to Saturday of this week from 7am to 2pm.
