HaborQue Looks for a New South Baltimore Home

The Baltimore Business Journal reported on February 14th that HarborQue at 1421 Lawrence St. in Locust Point was sold to the developers of  a new development at the former GE Site at the NE corner of Lawrence and Fort Ave.

Michelle Barrett, of HarborQue who leases the space, told SouthBMore.com it was their building that was sold and not their business. The building, which is also the home to Snoasis, was sold by their former landlord to the developers of a project that includes Solstice Partners and Bozzuto Group so the property can be included in the new development.

“It took us by surprise,” said Barrett. “We are in the process of finding a new home, but it is very early in the process since we just recently found out we would have to move.  Not sure yet of a timetable, but we definitely want to stay in South Baltimore.”

SouthBMore.com also caught up with Harborque owner Kelley Stewart, “We are definitely staying in business, and we are looking for our next home which will be hopefully be even bigger and better. We are working with several brokers and should have plenty of time to get everything worked out.”

HarborQue, recently named one of SouthBMore.com’s favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat, has been serving up Carolina-style BBQ meats, sandwiches and sides in South Baltimore for many years. In addition to their on-site menu, they also offer catering for parties and tailgates.  They also had a cameo in recent episode of HGTV’s House Hunters, in which a South Baltimore home was purchased.

The development at the former GE Site could be eight stories in height and include more than 200 apartments and 16,000 square feet of retail.  Developer Toby Bozzuto told the Baltimore Business Journal that this building would be “absolutely off the charts.”
