Plans Revealed for SoBo’s 2 East Wells Development 

A major development in South Baltimore broke ground in late June as 2 East Wells got underway.  The development along Wells St., in between Charles St. and Light St., will feature 153 apartments, 6,000 square feet of retail, and a 260-car parking garage.  The article was originally written in November of last year, but it became popular once again with news of the 2 East Wells ground breaking.  Stop by Wells St. – the area looks much different already!

Liquor Board Denies Crossbar Expansion; Crossbar to Open in Smaller Space

A hot topic throughout the Baltimore media in June was the proposal to create Crossbar der Biergarten at 12-18 E. Cross St. in Federal Hill.  The liquor license is currently zoned to 12 and 14 E. Cross St., but the ownership group was seeking to expand it into 16 and 18 E. Cross St.  After strong opposition from several groups in the community, the expansion was denied.  The owners plan to move forward on a smaller version of Crossbar and hope to appeal the decision.

Michael’s Cafe Eyes Federal Hill for New Restaurant

Michael’s Cafe of Timonium has eyed a vacant lot and garage at 1000-1006 S. Charles St. in Federal Hill for a new 6,000+ square foot restaurant.  The plans were revealed at the June SBNA meeting and the group is looking for approval from neighborhood groups before seeking a liquor license transfer of the former Rowhouse Grille 6-day license.
