SouthBMore.com’s Swann Park Shoreline Cleanup on May 10, 2014
On a recent run along the track at South Baltimore’s Swann Park, which was beautifully redone several years ago, I was blown away by all the trash along the shoreline. The shoreline is littered with thousands of bottles, bags of chips, Styrofoam waste, and more.
For the last eight months, we’ve organized community cleanups every other Saturday, when the weather cooperates, and have received amazing participation from many tremendous members of the community. Now, we are excited to announce what we hope to be our biggest and most important cleanup yet. Join us on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 10am-12pm to help clean up the shoreline of Swann Park.
For this effort we are partnering with Zero Litter, which is a great local organization whose goal is to make Baltimore the cleanest city in America, and which has organized many cleanups over the last two years in Baltimore City. We are excited to have their resources and strong voice in the community to help make this a great event. The Baltimore City Department of Public Works will also be hauling away the trash when we are finished.
But, we also need your help! We need as many volunteers as possible so that the shoreline of Swann Park compliments the beauty of the rest of the facility and provides another waterfront site we can be proud of as Baltimoreans.
Bring gloves and a good pair of boots, and hey, if you have a kayak that would be awesome too!
We hope to see you there and please spread the word.
RSVP and join the conversation on our Facebook Event Page.
Thanks!
