CELEBRATE National Pig Day in Pigtown!!!

Pigtown Main Street presents its inaugural National Pig Day event, which will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 1pm-3pm on the grassy lot at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Poppleton Street.

This family-friendly event features pot-bellied pigs from Whispering Rise Farm and Animal Sanctuary. The pigs will be available for everyone to visit and pet! There will also be craft activities, storytelling, and a visit from Pigtown’s own mascot pig.

Kid-friendly snacks will be provided by the Greener Kitchen at Suspended Brewery (located adjacent to where the pigs will be).

The event will benefit Whispering Rise Farm, whose mission is to provide sanctuary to surrendered, abandoned, or seized pot-bellied pigs who are products of the pet pig trade. Their secondary mission is to provide humane education to the public, and to offer an anthrozoological experience to individuals and small groups.

About National Pig Day: Sisters Mary Lynne Rave and Ellen Stanley officially started National Pig Day in 1972. Theystarted the day to raise awareness about pigs and how important they are to humans. In general, pigs are considered to be one of the most intellectual and important species.
