Wine Village in Baltimore press release:

Baltimore, MD – The makers of Christmas Village will go from festive to fine (wine) with the return of Wine Village in Baltimore. The three-week festival and new springtime tradition will take over Inner Harbor’s West Shore Park from Mother’s Day Weekend to Memorial Day. For Wine Village’s second season, the Village will build upon its success of year one and expand with new wine selections, new cocktails, more shopping, arts and crafts vendors, new food selections, updated layouts and new attractions. Wine Village will bring back crowd favorites, such as wine slushies, authentic European foods, live entertainment, movie nights, a historic carousel, discounted parking and unique vibes at the Grape Escape, Picnic Point and Wine Terrace. Charm City’s newest wine festival is inspired by Germany’s traditional and casual wine events. Wine Village will be open every day and free to attend from preview day on Thursday, May 9th, Opening Day and Ribbon Cutting on Friday, May 10th, through Memorial Day Monday, May 27, 2024. “We are thrilled to bring Wine Village back to Baltimore for its second year”, says Wine Village in Baltimore Project Manager Ronja Baumann. “The overwhelming response from the community during our first year was truly heartwarming, and we’re committed to making this year’s event even more enjoyable for everyone. From local and international wines to ice cold wine slushies, this is the wine festival to enjoy while celebrating spring in Baltimore. We’ve carefully curated this year’s wine and food lineup to appeal to a broader audience while retaining the beloved favorites from our debut year. As a testament to the city’s diverse talent and vibrant culture, we are happy to announce that most of our vendors are from Maryland. We can’t wait to welcome residents and visitors of all ages back to Wine Village.”

Wine Village in Baltimore will sail back into the Inner Harbor as one of the newest and most anticipated springtime festivals in the DMV. For its second year, Wine Village will return to the Inner Harbor by the Visitor Center even bigger than last year, with returning favorite food, drink, shopping vendors and entertainment, plus many, MANY new surprises for a second ‘pour.’

The event will bring dozens of wines from all around the world to Charm City – including crisp whites, full-bodied reds and rosés as well as refreshing bubbly wines from Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, and Tuscany; wines from the growing regions of California, Chile and Australia and regional wines from the Baltimore area; along with ice cold Wine Slushies topped with wine marinated fresh fruit that will surely be a good choice on hot May days.

For the perfect spring aesthetic and vibes, expect a romantic and cheerful setting at the Inner Harbor. The heart of Wine Village is the lawn area, the “Wine Terrace” with 300+ seating opportunities. A pop-up garden, complete raised garden beds, sun shading umbrellas and pergolas and lit with bistro lights and lampions at night time, will create a neat backdrop for the 40 Austrian Made picnic tables and countless lawn chairs. Additionally, the “Picnic Point” right in front of the stage and the “Grape Escape,” the event’s chill out lounge, will offer further seating options, featuring cute picnic blankets and more lawn chairs. West Shore Park’s lawn will be framed with wine and European style food booths, with the stage at the lawns south side being its anchor point.

To improve the event layout even further, the makers of Wine Village are bringing an exciting new addition to the festival. The European Wine selection will be sold out of a German made “Wein Wagon” (wine wagon), a 360-degree walk-up bar. This new focal point will sit on the park’s fountain area and be surrounded with six 12’ high life trees speckled with picturesque flora. Amber lit bistro lights will drape the ample seating area that surrounds the bar. This new addition is sure to catch all eyes!

Additionally, the food offerings will also be extended onto the Inner Harbor promenade section of Wine Village. A new sparkling wine booth along with Charm City Street Corn, offering freshly roasted corn on the cob, will bring refreshments and snacks to the water side of the event. Together with additional seating areas along the promenade, this new extension promises new ways for visitors to enjoy Wine Village.

Scheduled to return in just four weeks, Wine Village in Baltimore is poised to continue its mission of offering a vibrant springtime attraction at the Inner Harbor, further bolstering tourism in the city, and providing locals with memorable experiences.

* Extra seating areas have been added along the promenade. Visitors will have even more ways to savor the Wine Village experience!

* West Shore Park at the Inner Harbor will transform into a Wine Paradise with 600+ seats, for visitors to indulge in European delicacies and wines. Focalpoint of the festivities will be the Wine Terrace on the park’s lawn area, complete with a pop-up garden with flower beds, and family friendly German style picnic tables. The Picnic Point, located right in front of the stage, will invite visitors to enjoy weekly movie nights and live performances up close. Finally, the Grape Escape with its comfy lawn chairs will offer visitors a place to experience Wine Village in a relaxed atmosphere away from the crowds.

* A total of four booths will offer wines from all over the world. The European Wines Château in the Wein Wagon will feature varietals from Europe, which are the staple of traditional wine-making methods. With vineyards that date back multiple centuries, here you will find the selections which are balanced with earthen tones from these mature century grapes. The New World Wines Bungalow will showcase wines from California, Chile, Argentina and Australia. The Maryland Wines Manor will be home to our Charm City Maryland offers with wines from Maryland’s largest winemaker, Boordy Vineyards. By popular demand, we added a fourth wine booth, the Sparkling Soiree. Expect fuzzy and bubbly drinks, Proseccos, sparkling Rosés and for the first time, Champagne.

* Visitors will have the opportunity to take home their favorite wines by purchasing them by the bottle at each wine booth, ensuring that the flavors of Wine Village can be enjoyed long after the event concludes.

* The crowd favorite return: Eiskeller (German for cold room) that features the TikTok viral Wine Slushies. It was so popular that it was upgraded to four slushies now, one of them being non-alcoholic.

*A full stage program including live entertainment on weekdays and weekends, Open Air Movie Nights on Thursdays, performances by local theater companies, and more.

The historic European-style Wine Village Carousel is one of the beloved attractions of the event. It invites young and old to go for a ride on its horses. The carousel is located between the left side of the stage and the harbor. It utilizes the whole footprint of West Shore Park and complements the events layout together with the food court around the Wine Terrace. To keep everybody safe, we ask that kids under 42” are accompanied by a responsible, paying adult. Visitors can enjoy a ride during the regular hours of Wine Village.

The popular lawn game can now be played at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Bring the entire crew for a round of cornhole for a fun way to pass the evening after work. More fun outdoor games can be played on-site and are available to be played, such as Jenga, card games, board games and much more.
