Rye Street Tavern, which has been closed since 2021, reopens today at 225 E. Cromwell St. at the Sagamore Spirit Distillery in Baltimore Peninsula. Washington, D.C.-based Clyde’s Restaurant Group (CRG) took over the restaurant in May 2023 and has been renovating the two-story, 12,000 sq. ft. building in recent months.
Rye Street Tavern is the first Baltimore location for CRG, which currently has 12 other properties in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. CRG ran Clyde’s of Columbia until 2020.
CRB collaborated with Grizform Design Architects on an extensive overhaul of the restaurant and event space. The new Rye Street Tavern features five dining areas and three bars, plus small and large private event spaces. Its “crowning jewel” is a 75-seat outdoor bar with waterfront views of the Patapsco River and a glass and green roof.
The Southern-influenced menu features a raw bar and entrees such as crab cakes, steak frites, rockfish, scallops, house-made pastas with seafood, salads, and sandwiches.
There is also a weekend brunch menu.

Rye Street Tavern’s cocktail menu will prominently feature Sagamore Spirit Rye, which is produced adjacent to the restaurant. It also includes cocktails with Mexican mezcal, Colombian aguardiente, and Jamaican rum, along with a wine and beer menu.
There is a weekday happy hour with half off the raw bar menu, discounted beers and wines, $8 daiquiris and rye mules, and $10 old fashioned cocktails.
Rye Street Tavern features live music on the patio every Thursday through Sunday.
Rye Street Tavern is open Monday to Thursday from 11am to 11pm, Fridays from 11am to 12am, Saturdays from 10am to 12am, and Sundays from 10am to 11pm.
Rye Street Tavern is the second restaurant to open following the completion of Chapter 1B of the Baltimore Peninsula development. The first was coffee shop Little Wing with more restaurants planned, including Ben & Jerrys, Jersey Mike’s Subs, BK Lobster, Slutty Vegan, Bar Vegan, Urbano, Live-K, and a multi-vendor space called The Exchange.
