War of 1812 by Bike

Saturday, September 8, 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm
RSVP today! $10 per person.
Meet at Riverside Park, Riverside Avenue and East Randall Street.

This year we are taking our Defender’s Day celebrations beyond Fort McHenry with an afternoon bike tour around the harbor exploring the lives and landmarks that witnessed how the War of 1812 came home to Baltimore 200 years ago. We’ll visit the site of fortifications in Riverside Park, the home of Mary Pickersgill on Pratt Street and learn how the history of the conflict has stayed alive through memorials like the Battle Monument.

We’ve planned the tour to go just before the Defenders Day festivities begin at Ft. McHenry. This year the Fourt will commemorate the 195th anniversary of the successful defense of the city from British attack, and the celebration will begin at 6:00 pm and conclude with a 30-minute fireworks show starting at dusk. Come along for our bike tour and then plan on dinner out in South Baltimore or bring a picnic dinner and stick around for the show!
