Liv2Eat Brings Another Great Addition to Light St.

One of my favorite things about living in Baltimore is going out to eat at the many restaurants – both old favorites and new spots – that populate many blocks throughout the city. Interested in trying out a relatively recent addition to the neighborhood, I chose to have dinner and drinks at Liv2Eat, located at 1444 Light St., during my latest evening out.

My dinner date and I had a very enjoyable dining experience during the visit. Liv2Eat features an open kitchen concept; multiple dining areas, including an outdoor back patio; and an overall relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that retains the South Baltimore charm. Food-wise, the menu, albeit not huge, offers a good variety of seasonal seafood, meat and vegetable dishes, including small plates, salads, entrees and sides. It additionally offers a few dessert options and champagne, wine and craft beer – both bottled and draft – selections.

We started with a carafe of their housemade red sangria, which was delicious and a steal at only $15 (to note, this pricing is part of a special promotion they are currently running to kick-off spring and their outdoor patio. The carafe can also be purchased, even after the promotion ends, for $15 during happy hour.) For dinner we ordered the risotto fritters (crispy risotto with chive, topped with parmigiano cheese) and stuffies (a mix of quahog, chorizo and breaded stuffing baked in the clam shells) from the ‘Hot Stuff’ appetizer menu and the New Orleans-style shrimp and grits entrée.

As a small plate and appetizer lover, both the risotto fritters, which were light and flavorful with a great balance of all of its ingredients, and stuffies, which are such a unique menu item, were great choices. I was also very impressed by the size and flavoring of the shrimp on the entrée – very tasty! Nearly stuffed, we still found room for their version of the strawberry shortcake, complete with a scoop of vanilla ice cream from a local creamery. The dessert was the perfect way to end the meal – highly recommend it.

Whether a date night, dinner with friends or just looking to dine outside with warm spring and summer nights (hopefully) soon approaching, I look forward to trying some of the other items on their often-changing menu on my next visit.
