Stache Bash Release:

Most people think that Movember is the best time of the year to grow a mustache. That may be true on a global level, but here in Baltimore we grow mustaches in March for a cause that supports the local community. For the past two years a public event called the Stache Bash has taken place at Delia Foley’s in Federal Hill. It’s a party where ladies and gentlemen come together and get silly with their facial hair.

What began as a small gathering of friends sporting terrific lip sweaters has snowballed into a party that both celebrates and supports Baltimore City. “The Stache Bash is one of our favorite events. We couldn’t be happier to support such a great cause,” says general manager Jason Albert.

While the party has taken place for seven years, it has only been a fundraiser since 2012. It was at that time when I teamed up with Rebuilding Together Baltimore, an affiliate of Rebuilding Together, Inc., an organization that assists low-income homeowners, most of whom are senior citizens, with home repairs that will help them be warmer, safer and drier in their homes. Their work helps to preserve affordable homeownership in Baltimore.

Through raffle tickets for prizes from multiple local establishments, t-shirts, and a silent auction from LGC Sports, the Stache Bash has raised more than $5,000 for this organization in the last two years. Bonnie Bessor, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Baltimore, says, “It’s great to work with Bart, and the Stache Bash is a really fun party.” To learn more about Rebuilding Together Baltimore, go to www.rtbaltimore.org.

Come on out this year on March 29th at Delia Foley’s and help us reach our 2014 fundraising goal of $5,000. Local bands, Hunger Strike and Amateur Hour, will be kicking it off starting at 8:00 pm. T-shirts made by Bmore Threads will also be available for purchase. A prize will be awarded to the person voted to have the best stache, so come show us what you can grow.
