For the first time since 2021, people can now drive, walk, or bike from one side of the Baltimore Peninsula development in Port Covington to the other.
Cromwell St. was previously closed as construction began on new infrastructure and five new buildings. It reopened with a new alignment in recent weeks. A number of brand new streets also opened.
Much of Cromwell St. is now just a two-lane road with bike lanes. There is also a cobblestone section in front of the Sagamore Spirit distillery.
New streets added include Mission Blvd. moving east to west, and Distillery St., Rye St., Terrapin Way, and House St. moving north to south.
Many of the new streets have bike lanes, on-street parking spaces, wide sidewalks, and tree and landscaping pits.
Baltimore Peninsula is a 235-acre, mixed-use development. Sagamore Ventures and the Urban Investment Group within Goldman Sachs Asset Management (Goldman Sachs) are the owners of the project in partnership with previous development partner Weller Development and current development partners MAG Partners and MacFarlane Partners.
Chapter 1B of the project is wrapping up and bringing five buildings that will have 440,000 sq. ft. of office; 586,000 sq. ft. of residential from 537 total housing units which break down as 367 market-rate residential dwelling units, 89 affordable dwelling units (ADU), and 81 extended-stay units; 116,000 sq. ft. of retail; more than 1,000 parking spaces; and 10 acres of parks and public space to South Baltimore.
