Federal Hill Carryout Reopens

Under new ownership, Federal Hill Carryout has reopened at 1538 Light St.  Much like next door neighbors 1542 Light St., 1538 has seen its share of owners and name changes.  First J&P’s, then Uncle Pete’s Grille, later Federal Hill Carryout and now Federal Hill Carryout again.

Federal Hill Carryout’s menu is similar to those of the prior owners and names featuring pizza, subs, wings, appetizers, sandwiches, pasta, salads, platters, soups, Greek specialties, desserts and more.  They are open 11am-11pm daily and deliver.

Zellas Back With Familiar Ownership?

The former owners of Zellas Pizzeria in Hollins Market, who were responsible for growing the popularity of the restaurant,  will soon regain ownership of the establishment.  The restaurant is currently closed, but we are being told that one of the original owners will be reopening Zellas in the coming months.  We’ll keep you posted.

Cockey’s Now Serving Beer and Wine

In other Hollins Market news, Cockey’s has completed the transfer of their new liquor license and is now serving beer and wine to go with their great sandwiches, pit beef, corned beef and more.  They feature a daily special of a black angus burger and a National Bohemian for just $4.95.  I just had this special and the burger is delicious! Enjoy food and a drink in their newly expanded dining room or by a bonfire in their patio and beer garden.  Cockey’s is closed for the holidays but will reopen on January 2nd.

PriceRite Opens in SoWeBo

Pigtown and SoWeBo are no longer a food desert as Price Rite is now open and occupying the space vacated by Safeway at Mt. Clare Junction.  Price Rite is a discounted grocery store owned by ShopRite and will employ 13o full- and part-time employees.

Pigtown Main Street Opens Office

Washington Blvd. in Pigtown Main Street has gained a new tenant and it’s none other than Pigtown Main Street themselves.  Now under the direction of executive director Ben Hyman, they have moved into a new office at 781 Washington Blvd.  Pigtown Main Street will also be launching a new website soon. You can learn more in our recent Q&A with Hyman.
