Zelda Zen Moving to Fells Point

After eleven and a half years in Federal Hill at 46 E. Cross St., Zelda Zen owner Beth Hawks will be moving her boutique to 1634 Thames St. in Fells Point.  Zelda Zen will almost double in size going from the 3oo-square foot space in Federal Hill to a 550-square foot home in historic Fells Point.  Their last day in Federal Hill will be this Sunday, March 10th and they will reopen in Fells Point around March 19th.

“I put the building up for sale and sold it to a great buyer,” Hawks said.  “I absolutely love Federal Hill and am thrilled to be able to stay in Baltimore.  It was an amazing eleven and a half years in this neighborhood.”

“When I came here most people told me that a retail business couldn’t survive,” Hawks continued. “Not only did we survive, many others followed.  One of the most amazing things is that I got to see couples grow up – from going on their first date to bringing their kids into the store.”

With 250 additional square feet in Fells Point, Hawks will have an opportunity to offer a lot more jewelry including a men’s selection, as well as more Baltimore art. She will also be adding items for “pampering,” such as robes.  The store will be cutting back on stuff for babies and household goods though. “We will be across the street from Su Casa, which is one of my favorite stores that offers an incredible selection of home goods,” said Hawks.

Hawks is very excited about the new opportunity for Zelda Zen. “I think Fells Point has a huge future. Harbor East is really growing and you get so many people walking back and forth between the two neighborhoods,” she said.

In finding a buyer for 46 E. Cross St., Hawks was very selective. “I wanted to make sure the property was sold to someone who was a great fit for the neighborhood and would participate in as many things as possible around the neighborhood,” she said. “I found two wonderful gentlemen to buy the property and everyone will be really excited with the new business they are bringing to the area.”

In the remaining few days left in Federal Hill, Zelda Zen is offering a sale with big discounts on household goods.

Best of luck to Zelda Zen in Fells Point – we will miss you being a great neighbor! SouthBMore.com looks forward to sharing more information about the new business in the near future.
