New Traffic Signal Installed at Hanover Street and Henrietta Street
A new traffic signal was installed this month at the intersection of S. Hanover St. and W. Henrietta St. The intersection sits at the cross-section of the Otterbein, Sharp-Leadenhall, and Federal Hill neighborhoods. It is adjacent to Firestone Complete Auto Care’s parking lot.
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) first announced in January 2019 that the signal was going to be installed.
District 11 Councilman Eric Costello said on Facebook last week, “The new traffic signal at S Hanover St & W Henrietta St is finally operational! Pedestrians can now safely cross the street and cars can turn safely on S Hanover. It took me about 5 years to accomplish, but it’s finally done! Thank you Mayor Jack Young and Baltimore City Department of Transportation! #WinTheDay”
In a previous letter to DOT, Councilman Costello said “there have been dozens of vehicular accidents that have occurred at this intersection over the past four years.”
